Today is Thursday, March 25, 2010 and it is a good day for a run.
It would have been a better day for a run, however, if it wasn’t for the WIND! Coming off a long winter, it’s always a little silly to whine about the weather when it’s sunny and above freezing. But today, starting out, it was a bit cold. 41 degrees is what the internet told me, and that before a stiff wind coming from the north.

Today is Saturday, March 13, 2010, and it is a good day for a run.
I haven’t written in a while, for various reasons; partly because I was busy with another writing project, partly because I’ve been with the kids and such, but mostly just because I have been lazy about it. I have not been lazy about running, however, so now I have three runs in the past week to catch up on.

Today is Friday, February 26, 2010, and it is a good day for a run.
Yesterday was speedwork day, and another 5-mile tempo run. Since I only have one currently-run-able five mile course laid out by work, I was back on it again. Prior to yesterday’s run, I had done three of my last six runs on that course (and after it, four of seven, obviously) so I was getting a little bored with it. It’s not an especially interesting route, a lot of long, straight stretches and along roads with not much to look at. Plus as a loop route that I am doing two laps of, I get to look at it all twice. In an effort to spice things up, I decided to run it in the opposite direction I had been doing before. This also had the benefit of using what I learned on my last interval run, and setting things up so the fast part of the run was more downhill and downwind, with the warmup and cooldown on the uphill and upwind portions.

Today is Saturday, February 13, 2010, and it is a good day for a run.
No run today; Saturday, as usual, is a rest day. My latest run actually happened on Thursday. I hadn’t had a chance to write about it until today, because Thursday evening I went out for a work outing, and last night I spent watching the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics.
I am a big fan of the Olympics. Right now, Henry and I are watching ski jumping together. Of course, the summer games tend to be my favorite by virtue of the track and field events, but there is plenty to enjoy in winter, too. With a lot of sports about trying to go fast in slippery, snow-and-ice conditions, I can definitely identify.

Today is Tuesday, February 2, 2010, and it is a good day for a run.
I was concerned about losing ground on the heel situation after Sunday’s run, and in truth, I did lose some ground, with my heel feeling a little sore on Monday in situations where it wouldn’t have before. But it wasn’t a complete reversal, so things were mostly back to status quo again today. It did plant a seed in my mind, however, about just how long this situation might go on.

Today is Tuesday, January 26, 2010, and it is a good day for a run.
And today, I ran! For the first time in over a week, I actually managed to run. It was a short, boring, and somewhat angry run, but it was a run nonetheless.
Today was my first day tying on my running shoes since my long run nine days ago. I was very apprehensive about it, but I felt it was time for me to test the waters after “resting” the heel all last week. When I first put on my left shoe, that old familiar pressure point was there, but it didn’t feel too bad. I was so determined to run outside today, I didn’t even bring any backup inside clothes. There was just no way I was going to be on the elliptical today.
